Oh, no you didn't!

Kevin and I are house hunting. I also signed up for FreeCreditReport.com. Mostly because of the catchy jingle and the guy in the pirate costume. But also because I want to make sure we have the best possible credit score when we apply for a mortgage.


I got a notice that something new appeared on my report. I checked the website and it was a COLLECTION AGENCY! Uh... what? I called the number listed on my report and they said it was for an emergency medical service for me in Cleveland on 3/24/2007. Ya, I lived in Houston in 2007. The woman on the other end of the phone explained that the notes said United Health Care didn't pay the full amount so I needed to pay $343. My reply, "I have Blue Cross Blue Shield. This is obviously not me. How do I get this off my credit report?" Answer, "well, ma'am, to get it off your credit report, you'll have to send us a copy of the bill you received and the payment you made." Ok, maybe you didn't hear me. Let's start over...

Poor soul. She was just doing her job.
